Product Comparison

Just wanted to do a quick product comparison.

I know we all love Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive.  Well I have found a very comparable product, Elmer's Craft Bond.

I had bought my first bottle of Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive at my local Walmart a few months ago.  I had priced the Scotch Quick Dry at other places and my Walmart was selling it for $3 a bottle which was almost $3 cheaper than some places I had seen it, so of course I bought a bottle to try to see what all the hype was about. Of course I fell in love with it like we all have that have used it. Well by first bottle was running low so last weekend when I was as Walmart again I tried to buy some and now they only carry Elmer's glues in the craft section.  I saw the Elmer's Craft Bond and it too was only $3 so I decided to give it a try.

Here is my comparison of the two products.
How they are alike:
They are both acid fee and photo safe, quick drying, and white glue.

How they are different:
The Elmer's comes in a 1 ounce bottle and the Scotch in a 2 ounce bottle.

The Elmer's has a dual tip.  A thin tip like the Scotch as well as a broader tip, that is rubber-not foam.
I really like broader tip on the Elmer's for covering larger areas like chipboard.

Overall, I would say they are equal items, though due to the broad tip on the Elmer's Craft Bond I may stick with it for while.

I hope you enjoyed this comparison.

OMG!! It's September Already!

I really can not believe that it is September already.  The holidays are already knocking on our doors.

I did get some crafting in over the weekend by making some Halloween cards.

I had a bit of the stomach flu for a few days at the start of the week,  but am on the mend now.

Excited that the NFL season is starting next week.  I am a Patriots fan and also participate in Fantasy Football.  I have an all female league that I am the commissioner of and also participate in a league with my husband.  I have all my drafts done and now just waiting for the season to start.

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday.  All you Moms who had kids starting school this morning I hope that went well.  I have no children so I don't have to go through that anxiety and planning.

Next weekend is the last of my three day weekends.  They will be missed.  We have been working four-day work weeks over the summer and I haven't worked on a Friday since the beginning of last summer as we have been having furloughs due to state budget cuts in California.  Though I am happy to have the 10% added back to my paycheck, I will be VERY SAD to see my Fridays off go away.  Fridays have been my lazy sort of day since I knew I still had 2 more days to get chores and errands done.

I did some crafting this weekend.  I make a beach themed mini album for my brother and his family.  They came to California in the Spring and visited the beach a few times and then also did some beach time in Washington over the summer.  I will post photos or a video of this later.

I also participated in the Scrapbeach http://thescrapbeach.ning.com Anniversary virtual crop on Ustream http://www.ustream.tv/user/thescrapbeach on Saturday.  I caught some of the afternoon session and tuned in for all of the evening session.

Have a great week.

Back to Reality!

I am back at work today after a two week "staycation."  Just did some crafting and some things around the house.  Me and my Mom took a trip to Santa Barbara one day to see my grandfather.  Spent a lot of time at the dog park with Lucy (our 2 year old Beagle).  We have had a extremely mild summer here in Bakersfield and she and I have taken advantage of it and have been spending lots of time at the dog park so she can run and lose some excess weight and I can walk and lose some excess weight.

Things will be busy for the next couple of months.  I work for a University and we are gearing up for our Fall term to begin in September. Of course I will be fitting in some time to craft.  This is my escape and I love it.

I will be participating in the Scrapbeach virtual crop on August 21st. This is the one-year anniversary of the Scrapbeach and I feel like I have been a part of it forever. If you aren't familiar with you can find it at: http://thescrapbeach.ning.com or click on the badge on the right side of the screen.

Have a great week.

July Virtual Crop Challenge #3 Submission

Challenge #3 was to use a sketch from Becky Fleck's July PageMaps.

I have been using her PageMaps since Kathryn turned me on to them a few months back.  I go on line each month and print them out and keep them in a binder on my craft table for reference.  They have really helped me get back into doing 12x12 layouts.

This layout is of my youngest brother and his first son.  My brother has always been a HUGE Broncos fan and when my nephew was very young (less than a year old) my brother got him a Broncos jersey and they went and had photos taken.  These photos have always been some of my favorite photos of my brother and nephew. I have more of these photos, different shots, in a collage frame hanging in my bedroom.  I smile each time I look at them.

July Virtual Crop Challenge #2 Submission

Here is my submission for Challenge #2 for the Scrapbeach July 2010 Virtual Crop.

We were to do a basic layout without any premade embellishments.

These are some photos of one of my nieces from when she was younger.  This summer I am working on getting old family photos out of boxes and into layouts.

Stuff I've Been Working On - Part 2

Here are some layouts I have been working on the last couple of weeks.  They are from when my brother and his family came to California over Spring break. My nieces had a cheerleading competition in Anaheim and of course we did Disney one day (California Adventure).

Welcome to June!

I can't believe it's already June! Wasn't Christmas just last week?? This year is going by oh sooooo FAST!

We are bracing ourselves to MUCH warmer weather here in Central California. It is supposed to be close to 100 by end of the week...ugh! I know it will get much worse over the next few months.

However, hot weather usually means I spend time indoors which means more crafting time...yes! I will post projects as I get them done. I am bummed that thescrapbeach is taking a hiatus from the mini album swaps this summer so Kathryn can get her new website up..oh well I will get caught up on other projects.

Recuperating from a Busy Weekend

Whew! I am recovering from a busy weekend. I participated the 24-hour National Scrapbooking Day Crop hosted by Kathryn on the ScrapBeach.

I also participated in our local Relay for Life (American Cancer Society). I live in a city of about 800,000 and our Relay for Life is the biggest grossing Relay for Life Event in the country. It is estimated to raise about $2 million dollars this year! I walked at 10 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. This was my first experience participating in the event. I was on my mother-in-laws team who is a cancer survivor.

I hope everyone got some scrapbooking done for NSD Day.

Oh How We Have Come to Depend So Much on Technology!

Just wanted to share my thoughts today about how much we depend on technology.

I work for mid-size University (about 6,500 students) in California and we had a campus wide computer virus today. We were basically useless most of the day as 99% of what we do are on now on computers.

Though technology makes our lives more simple, we don't appreciate it enough or realize just how much we depend on it until we don't have it.

So the morning was spent chatting with co-workers, playing a game of trivial pursuit, taking a long lunch, and then waiting around this afternoon until finally at 3:00 p.m. we were able to log on to our computers.

Just wanted to share.

Wow! Time Flies

Just realized it has been a month since I have posted anything on my blog.

I haven't posted any videos because I haven't been participating in the mini album swaps on the ScrapBeach for the last couple of months. I have been working on some other projects and may do a collective video on them.

Hope everyone has been crafting and are experiencing the great Spring weather that Central California is having right now.

Challenge #6 Submission for March Scrap Beach Virtual Crop

This is my submit for the March Scrapbeach Virtual Crop.

We were to make a project using the color pink. I may have to be bumped from the competition because I used Red Velvet GM on the letter. I was making this not even knowing there was a Pink challenge.

Thought I would share, even if I don't qualify.

2010 Update

I can't believe it is 13 days into 2010 and I have NOT scrapped at all!

Many things going on. Been busy since back to work. Late hours and not much energy when I get home.

Also this past week my grandmother who I help care for had a double stroke. She is recovering and will be moved from hospital to rehabilitation facility in next couple of days. We are in process of looking for a new assisted living facility for her, as we are NOT happy with her current facility.

On top of all of this, we may be moving!! Ugh!

I am going to make some scrap time this weekend. I need to work on my TWS mini swap album for this month.

Hope you all are enjoy 2010 thus far.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

We are four days into 2010 and it's back to work after a longgg break (about 18 days off). Been busy and it will get progressively busier this week as the new quarter will begin at the University I work at the students will return to class.

I am looking forward to lots of scrapping in 2010 and learning more techniques from my buddies on youTube and the scrapbeach and trade wind scrappers.
